GHC Website Policy

Website and Purpose:

The official website for the Gay Healers Circle (GHC) is located at www.GayHealersCircle.org.  This is an “entry page” that then directs members and visitors to the local community websites, which are created and maintained by the local GHC chapters and are collectively known as the “website”.  The website is the formal member roster for the GHC, our official communication channel with members, and contains the official listing of all GHC events.  This site serves as the publicly viewable and searchable "directory" of members and the services they provide, and it is therefore important that this site clearly reflect the mission of the GHC and represents the highest standards of professionalism.  All content going onto the site will be reviewed by members of the local Steering Committees prior to being posted on the site.  All individuals who participate on the website, and all viewers of the website do so under the terms of the Website Content Disclaimer.

Website Membership Criteria:

All new member profiles must be approved before the member profile is available to be viewed on the site. The following criteria must be met for a potential new member to have a profile on the GHC website.

• Potential members must attend a meeting before joining the site, and therefore becoming a formal member of the organization
• Potential members must fill in enough information so that viewers have a clear understanding or their practice (either professional or layman)
• Potential members must be LGBTQ
• Potential members must post a clear face picture that is professional in nature
• Potential members must live in the general area of their local chapter

Facebook Page:

For individuals who do not meet the above criteria, they are welcome to join our Facebook page. The Facebook page is for anyone who is interested in knowing what is happening with the GHC, or for anyone who wants to promote events or services to GHC members, but who may not meet the above criteria (i.e. straight, or do not live in the local area).  Although the Facebook page may be used as a promotional and communication tool, it does not serve as the official site of member roster of the GHC.

Member Usage of the Website:

Members can, and are encouraged to, use the official GHC site and the Facebook site to promote events or their professional services to other members (Events), post blogs or articles they have written (Blogs), create and participate in discussions (Forum), post photographs of GHC events (Photos), and email and communicate with other members.

The members may not send a general “blast” email to all GHC members.  This functionality is reserved for the GHC Steering Committee.  The GHC Steering Committee will try to limit the number of emails sent to members to communication that is required to promote and give information about upcoming events.
