GAY HEALERS CIRCLE - Los Angeles

We all heard about the drum beat of homophobia talking about judge activists ignoring the rule of majority regarding the issue of gay marriage in CA.

Let's clarify something here. The United States is not run by 'majority rule' many people do not understand the difference between a Constitutional Republic and a Majority-Rule-Democracy. The two are very different. In a majority-rule-democracy, the people could vote tomorrow to cancel the next episode of American Idol and it would have to be done - after all, it's what the majority wants.
In a Constitutional Republic, like the USA certain fundamental rights cannot be over ridden by majority rule - that is why we have the BILL OF RIGHTS!
Here few examples of how the courts have protected the right of minority in the past:

Brown vs. Board of Education 1954 the majority of Americans opposed mixing black and white kids in schools - the courts stepped in and corrected this injustice.

Lovings vs The State of Virginia 1967 the majority of American opposed inter-racial marriage - the courts stepped in and corrected this injustice.

That is why the Gay Community has to seek relief from the courts.
We need protection from the court. Please continue helping your fellow gays and Lesbians to achieve equal rights.

Thanks
